Furled Leaders

Welcome to the wonderful world of Furled Leaders, renowned worldwide as the best leader for presenting a Dry Fly & Wet Flies or nymphs delicately.  If you have never experienced presenting a dry fly with a Tapered Furled Leader then you do not know what you are missing in your Fly Fishing experience as there is nothing finer.

My leaders are made from the highest quality Gutermann polyester coated thread to provide a slim but strong leader system capable of handling even the feistiest of Game fish.

Unlike mono leaders threaded Furled Leaders have no memory, they are supple straight out of the packet which provides excellent turnover & handling abilities, yet remaining strong. They are simple to connect between fly line & tippet material and can be used floating or sinking.

All the leaders are attached to the fly line by a shorb loop at the butt end making them easy to change by a simply loop to loop method and the tapered end comes either with a shorb loop or a tippet ring.

Full care instructions come with each leader & if treated correctly will last a very long time.

If  you are interested for dry fly presentation then you will need to apply a paste type muscilin to them, I have used both red & green muscilin for years without any troubles but recently discovered a product made in the USA called Otter Butter

It makes the furled leaders float like corks. It can be purchased in the UK at Bakewell Fly Fishing Shop









Tapered Furled Leaders

An olive green thread furled leader with shorb loops at both ends and can be made in the following sizes: 3/4/5 ft.

An olive green thread furled leader with a shorb loop at the butt end and a tippet ring at the tippet end, can be made in the following sizes: 3/4/5 ft.











When you require a Hi Vis sighter for either nymph or wet fly fishing but do not want to compromise on presentation then I can incorporate sighters into the furled leaders.

Orange sighter built into the olive green thread furled leader, can be made with shorb loop or tippet ring at the end of the taper, available in sizes: 3/4/5ft

Yellow sighter built into the olive green thread furled leader, can be made with shorb loop or tippet ring at the end of the taper, available in sizes: 3/4/5ft

Red sighter built into the olive green thread furled leader, can be made with shorb loop or tippet ring at the end of the taper, available in sizes: 3/4/5ft







If you feel the sighter at the front end of the taper is not visible enough then it can also be built into the butt section using Gutermann thread in red with an olive taper, available in sizes: 3/4/5 ft.

Weight Forward Furled Leader

After extensive testing throughout the UK I can now add a 5ft weight forward tapered leader to my list, this is designed to be fished in breezy, conditions where a normal tapered leader wont punch through the wind, it has a gradual taper for most of the leader but packs a small punch towards the end of the leader before tapering back down to the tippet ring or shorb loop.

Made with shorb loop or tippet ring at the end of the taper, available in size: 5.5ft

Mono Furled Leader

I also make mono tapered furled leaders which are often more suited to stillwaters for turning over larger flies and are stiffer than threaded leaders but can also be used for very spooky fish where a more stealthier approach is required.

Made from 3lbs mono and either a shorb loop connection at both ends or a tippet ring at the tapered end. available in sizes: 3/4/5ft
